Static content for category pages

    Hey guys,

I am in the planning stages for the second project with Mingle. From 20+ themes I have worked with, its by far the most flexible and good looking product, really! thanks guys! My first project is here: http://www.downside-fisher.org I will of course purchase another license once the job goes ahead.

The site is for a Healthcare company with multiple doctor offices and surgeries, and I would like to build a Doctor Finder tag cloud for each of the services they provide.

At this point I just want to know if it will be possible:

    I will add a tag-cloud plug-in
When the tag cloud clicked – can I have a static content above EACH category results? Each category to have different static content.

i.e. for example if I click on “Travel Medicine” I want a description of services at the top, and then all the posts (doctor profiles) that specialise in Travel Medicine.

On my first Mingle site – example of such Tag Cloud: http://www.downside-fisher.org/activities/

Do you think it will be possible to have a static content before the results for each of the Tag Cloud Categories?

    Thanks for your help,
    Lubi

    Hi, Lubi.

You seem to be confusing categories and tags in your question.

If you want each tag archive page to have different content, the only way I can think of to achieve this will be to make a different custom template for every possible tag.

Hmm. Yes. Thanks Jeff. I thought as much, but thought I would ask as I may not be aware of something simple…
Sorry about the category / tag confusion, you are right I meant TAGS when I said categories… but I think you understood what I was asking.
No worries… I may have to create a post for each tag then, which will stay at the top of the results by editing the date of new posts… it may work :: or I will think about another way… It will definitely be “above my paygrade” to create template pages, but again I have a couple of freelancers that may help out.
Thanks for your quick answer! Much appreciated. I can get back to my project roadmap now. Cheers x

If you have a set number of tags that won’t change, or at least won’t change much, then one way to achieve what you want is to manually create a page for each tag term and use the [blog] shortcode in the content of that page to filter the list so that it spits out only posts that are tagged with a particular term.

You could do the same thing using categories instead of tags.

As these would be manually created “index” pages they won’t be actual WordPress archive pages so you’ll also need to create manual menus and links to these “index” pages.

It’s a system that works well, I’ve seen many Minglers™ adopt this technique to display (for example) different headers on different category index pages.
