Embed YouTube video using a shortcode with customisation

  I am working with the Traject theme and so far found it does just what I need to do. However, I would like to embed a youtube video within a page in a column. I have followed the Wordpress instructions:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/
  When I embed the URL it works but is the wrong size. So I have tried embedding using a shortcode with custom size as instructed by Wordpress support and it does not work – the shortcode appears as text.
  Does the Traject theme support embedding youtube videos? If so how can I do this?
  I am developing this site locally so cannot include a link.

  If a shortcode appears as text in your content then it means that either the shortcode does not exist or that you have misspelled the shortcode. The link you reference is not for the standalone version of WordPress, it is for sites hosted on the wordpress.com website. The two are very different. For the standalone version of WordPress you need to read the documentation on the the wordpress.org website.

  Thank you for pointing out that I was looking at the .com support pages instead of the .org pages. An obvious error that I didn’t spot! All sorted now. Many thanks.
