WPBakery Page Builder does not work on posts

I’m having trouble adding a blog to this site: http://annmccloudsneath.com/
I have added “HealthBlog” added to the menu, selected it as a blog page. There seems to be many ways to define the way this page works. I can’t find a way to have the page title show with blog posts below. When I try with WP Bakery, it doesn’t seem to save anything.
What needs to happen to either have WP bakery work or Identifying things in the standard format?
    thanks

    Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Just add a Post List element to your page. Set the parameters for that element the way you want them, then save the settings and save the page…

Yes, I understand that WP Bakery can work this way, it’s just that on the website I mentioned above, it does not. It will not save WP bakery settings. I add a row and elements and save, then it just returns to a blank page again.

    How odd.

Is this the page you mean? → http://annmccloudsneath.com/health-blog/

Because that page is not blank, it has incorrectly added shortcodes on it.

Let’s start from scratch, see if we can get this working for you…

First of all, deactivate all the additional plugins you have installed so that the only four plugins activated are these…

         – CSS3 Responsive Web Pricing Tables Grids
         – Go – Responsive Pricing & Compare Tables
         – Slider Revolution
         – WPBakery Page Builder

Please don’t skip the above step, it is important. Once you’ve got this working you can reactivate your additional plugins.

Now create a new page (Pages > Add New), give it a title like “a test page” and then publish the page…

Next click the WPBakery Page Builder button, and then click the Backend Editor button…

Now click the Add Element button, and in the Add Element window that opens click on the Post List element…

In the Post List Settings window that opens, make the settings you can see in the screenshot below, click the Save changes button when you are done, and then click the Update button to save the chages to the article…

Lastly, click on the View page link at top left to view the frontend article…

Your test article wont look exactly like mine because you’ll have different posts and maybe a right-hand sidebar on your article.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Before I go much further, I noticed that you are recommending to leave 4 plugins activated. The vellum theme doesn’t include two of them: CSS3 Responsive Web Pricing Tables Grids
and Go – Responsive Pricing & Compare Tables

Can you confirm that I should still do your test with just the Slider Revolution and WPBakery Page Builder

The Vellum theme comes with four free plugins…

         – CSS3 Responsive Web Pricing Tables Grids
         – Go Pricing – WordPress Responsive Pricing Tables
         – Slider Revolution
         – WPBakery Page Builder

The two pricing tables plugins were added with the v1.1 theme update on March 6th, 2014…

Scroll to the foot of the Vellum item page to see the theme updates log. → https://themeforest.net/item/vellum-responsive-wordpress-theme/6914246

If you don’t have “CSS3 Responsive Web Pricing Tables Grids” and “Go Pricing – WordPress Responsive Pricing Tables” installed, that’s okay. The important thing is that you deactivate all the additional plugins you have installed.

P.S. If you want to install those pricing tables plugins, in your admin sidebar select Settings > Plugin Installer

Thanks. The test page works fine. I had used the Content Options panel to establish a sidebar for the categories verses utilizing the options within the post list itself. That was the problem.

    Good to hear!

So now repeat the procedure, this time giving your new page a title such as “Blog” or “Health Blog” or “Health News”, or whatever suits your specific situation. You can add a sidebar to the page if you like.

You should not set this page as your “Posts page” in Settings > Reading, leave that drop-down set to the “— Select —” option. (If you set a posts page then WordPress will make that a “virtual” archive page and will do its own thing on that page, you won’t get the benefits of the Post List element.)

The URL for your blog will be “http://annmccloudsneath.com/blog” or “http://annmccloudsneath.com/health-blog” or “”http://annmccloudsneath.com/health-news” depending on what title you have your page.

If there is anything else about the Vellum theme itself you need help with, please just let us know. If you can’t find a solution using the forum search please create a new topic for each separate issue and we’ll do our best to help.

    Thanks.
